Epsom Oaks third wins Hurry Harriet Stakes Aidan O’Brien’s English Oaks third Alluringly gained a second win at Gowran today, landing the featured Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Hurry Harriet Stakes under jockey Seamus Heffernan. The daughter of Fastnet Rock had chased home top racemare Enable in two of her last three starts, including when third the Epsom Oaks in June and sixth in the Irish Oaks in July, with both races sandwiching another respectable sixth placing in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot. Today dropping back in trip to 1m1f, Alluringly, drawn wide in 12, was produced from off the pace and in the end her proven stamina helped her peg back leader Making Light in the closing stages, for a neck win. Winning trainer Aidan O'Brien wasn't present but Heffernan later said “she was the classiest filly in the race but her last two runs have been a little disappointing. I always felt I was going to get there and pick Pat (Smullen, on Making Light) up. “I was happy enough to come on the wide outside and get a clear run. It was a help today. “We haven’t seen the best of her. She ran well in Chester (second to Enable), and it looks like she’s back to what we think she is - she’s a bit more than we’ve seen.” Paddy Power later introduced Alluringly at 25/1 for the Matron Stakes on Champions Weekend at Leopardstown.
