Phillip Enright is hoping Angels Dawn can give him another winner in the Goffs Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park this afternoon.
The Kerryman won back-to-back runnings of the race on Preists Leap in 2008 and 2009 and his mount this year is disputing favouritism for 'the race that stops a county'.
Enright was on board Sam Curling's charge when she finished sixth in last year's Irish National.
She came into that race off the back of a game effort to take the 'Kim Muir' at Cheltenham and her proven stamina looks set to be a big asset in testing conditions this afternoon.
“Hopefully she will run well. She has been a great mare and please god she will run a good race,” said Enright.
“She stays well, she showed that in Cheltenham when she galloped up the hill well, and she has form on heavy ground. It’s a very competitive race but hopefully she will run well.
“Sam thinks she is well in herself so hopefully she will run well.
Looking back to his successes on Priests Leap he added:- “He was a great horse and came at a great time in my career when I was just getting going.
“Thomas O’Leary was a great trainer and had him spot on the two days.
“It would be great to reel back in the years!”
Danny Mullins is another rider hoping to strike again in the three-mile-one featured having won the race on Total Recall four years ago.
He takes the mount on the John Flavin-trained Street Value a winner over an extended three-miles-five at Fairyhouse last month.
“He proved he has a lot of stamina and toughness winning the Porterstown at Fairyhouse and the recent run over 2m4f in Cork was encouraging as he should have the speed to lie up and get an early position,” said Mullins.
“He’s fit and well and hopefully is a live contender.”
