English strikes at Cork again with Tribal Tribal Path sprang a 25/1 shock in the Newmarket Handicap at Cork when producing a fine front-running performance. Donagh O'Connor soon had his mount prominent and he led after a couple of furlongs in the seven-furlong contest. The Damian English-trained gelding stuck on gamely in the closing stages to post a two-length success as Beechmount Whisper gave chase inside the final furlong. The winner was adding to two wins gained on the all-weather at Dundalk this year already. "I was hoping he'd do that as he was racing off 61 today compared to his all-weather mark of 68 and Donagh was taking another seven off,” said English. "I had this race in mind for him since January as I won it last year (with Cash Or Casualty), knew he'd handle the ground and I thought Tribal Path was a similar type of horse." He added: "I have 13 in training for the summer with four of them two year olds. I'm looking forward to the summer now." (Quotes by Thomas Weekes)
