Cartwright (7/4 second favourite) paid a handsome compliment to his Gowran conqueror, Scarpeta, when demolishing the opposition in the Paddy Hackett Memorial Maiden Hurdle at Naas.
A useful sort on the level for Mark Prescott, Cartwright was having his second start over flights, and he seemingly learned plenty from his seventeen length defeat by Scarpeta.
Here he asserted from between the final two in the hands of Jack Kennedy, and he flew up the run-in to inflict a sixteen length defeat on market leader, Epicuris (5/4).
"He's a grand fun horse and will win plenty of races. There will be a few days in him on the Flat as well, and he can run in some of the bigger handicaps. He stays very well," stated Elliott.
"He wants better ground and has come on nicely from his run at Gowran."
