Elliott to take wraps off Irish Point in Down Royal The rescheduled Festival of Racing at Down Royal will take place on Friday and Saturday. Gordon Elliott will bring a strong team to the festival and it will include Irish Point who won a Grade 1 at Aintree when last seen in April. He will start his new campaign in Friday’s feature, the Grade 3 Bottlegreen Hurdle over an extended two miles. Elliott told Dave Keena that Irish Point is a promising young horse who will not be inconvenienced by the likely soft ground in the north: "Yes, he definitely runs. He won't mind the soft ground. He probably wants a bit further but, with soft ground, it should bring stamina out. "I can see him stepping up in trip this season, but he's a nice horse and didn't do much wrong last year - he got beaten in a Grade 1 at Fairyhouse (second) and he was second in another one in Naas. He obviously won in Aintree (over two and a-half miles). He's a good horse."
