Electric Elmos scores for German owners Trainer Andrew Kinirons sent out his first winner for German-based owner Thomas Koehler at Listowel today, as Elmos Fire landed the Return Of The Revival Festival (C&G) Maiden under jockey Bill Lee. The 72-rated son of New Bay had previously failed by three parts of a length against gambled winner Silken Leader at Killarney last month and today raced prominently when eventually scoring by three and a half lengths from Hotrocket. Kinirons said “we really fancied him and it is a pity as the owner is German and came over to Killarney but didn't get to come over today. He bred the family for a couple of generations and will enjoy today. He is a new owner to us this year and we have a half-sister two year old who we are looking forward to. “He ran into one at Killarney the last day when he was green and needed a lead but went forward from a bad draw to get across and everyone stacked up behind. “He is an improving horse and a galloping track would suit him but it was a nice race for him today.” St Elmos Fire is a weather phenomenon seen during thunderstorms when the ground below the storm is electrically charged and was also the name of a film, TV programme and song.
