The extremely competitive paddypower.com iPhone App Handicap Hurdle went the way of the John McConnell trained Dul Ar An Ol who was guided to victory by Pat Kennedy.
The eleven year old son of Perugino was the oldest horse in the race by three years but that didn't stop him as he came with his challenge at the last, soon hit the front and kept on from there to score by half a length. Sheer Genius who looked a winner when hitting the front before the last, finished second under David Splaine at 14/1 while Redera ran his best race for a while to finish a further neck back in third at 33/1 under Robbie Moran.
The gamble of the race Munsaab who was 14/1 this morning and was backed into 6/1 favouritism at the off, got each-way money for his supporters finishing a further half a length back in fourth.
The winner was recording his third win of the season having won in quick succession at Navan and Clonmel in November of last year.
Winning trainer John McConnell said afterwards: "He doesn't do much when he hits the front but getting a bit squeezed before the last was a help to him.
"He was only just getting away with the ground as he would want it softer.
"He will probably make a trip to Prestbury Park now and he is entitled to it.
"The last day he saw too much daylight and was a bit keen. We put a cross noseband on him today and that seems to have made the difference."
