John McConnell is hopeful that a step up in trip to an extended three miles and better ground will see Dripsey Moon to good effect in the Grade 2 Albert Bartlett River Don Novices' Hurdle at Doncaster.
This double point-to-point winner was a wide-margin winner over flights in Perth on his racecourse debut for McConnell.
He has since finished runner-up in a novices' hurdle at Kelso and fifth in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Limerick on St Stephen's Day.
McConnell said: "Up in trip and much, much better ground which we are hoping will be a big help.
"He's a big enough price - it is very close in the ratings and there is not much in it. He is worth a crack at it.
"Whatever he is doing over hurdles, he will be a better chaser.
"It would be nice if we could nick some black-type.
"If he was to finish in the first three, we would have a crack at the Albert Bartlett. He is in it. There is only one Albert Bartlett and one Cheltenham.
"If not (in first three), we will lower our sights. Chasing will be his game really."
Dripsey Moon can be backed at 16/1 for this 10-runner contest.
