Doyle strikes again at Navan Ricky Doyle made it two winners from two visits to Navan when partnering Geraldines Lass to a cosy victory in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap. The 10lb claimer had recorded his first success under rules aboard Mini Chou here earlier this month and repeated the dose for boss Willie McCreery. Geraldines Lass settled mid-divison in the five-furlong contest before making her challenge inside the final furlong. Doyle got her to the front inside the final 100 yards and she was going away in good style at the line for a two-length success. It's an impressive strike rate for pony racing graduate Doyle, who has now won on two of his five mounts on the track. The winner is set to turn out again quickly in a bid to stay ahead of the handicapper. "It was a good performance for a three-year-old to beat older horses in a handicap," said McCreery afterwards. "Fair play to Pat Smullen who told me to drop her back in trip. She may run again at Tipperary next week as she'll get into that with a fixed penalty."
