It's been a long and winding road for Elle Dorado Rock since his fall at the first in a Tramore maiden hurdle on racecourse debut back in April 2022.

A runner-up berth at Gowran Park the following year was the closest the dual-purpose seven-year-old had come to victory in the interim.

His turn finally came under Robbie Colgan in the William Hill Top Price Guarantee Handicap over two miles. Having turned for home in mid-division on the inner, he was switched out for racing room over a furlong out and stayed on well to collar Scott Lang close home for a neck success.

Trainer Tony Martin said: "A great man (John Breslin, who owns him in partnership with Mike Larkin) has him and he was very patient with him and he needed to be.

"He is around long enough and was well deserving. He hasn't won a race until now. He always promised to do something like that and it eventually came. There were some good runs and a lot of days things didn't go the way they should have.

"He's done it today and it should have come a lot earlier, but at least it has come.

"He'll mix and match."
