Don't Tell Allen and Ian Power came through to win the extended three miles visitwexford.ie Maiden Hurdle in a race of changing fortunes.
The 'big two' in the market - 6/5 favourite The Folkes Tiara and 6/4 Perceval Legallois - were clear of the field on the approach to five out.
Don't Tell Allen improved to fourth after jumping that flight but still had plenty of work to do.
The front pair were busy tussling away and Perceval Legallois blundered away his chance three out when he unseated Simon Torrens.
The Folkes Tiara was left on his own, however, Mangan Sue and Don't Tell Allen both closed approaching the home bend.
The favourite got tired and was passed on the approach to the straight by by Mangan Sue and Don't Tell Allen.
The latter was driven into the lead at the penultimate flight by Ian Power and asserted before the last. He came in by five lengths at 11/1.
Mangan Sue, an 80/1 chance, took plenty of credit in second and was a whopping 25 lengths clear of Good Girl Robin (50/1).
Trainer John Queally said: "I think he had a few problems in the past. He is a well-bred horse and is a half-brother to Next Destination.
"They went very fast in front and it helped him. He will probably go over fences fairly soon and that'll be his game I'd say.
"He is bred to stay and we have no big plans for him."
The Stewards interviewed I.J. Power, rider of Don't Tell Allen, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, I.J. Power stated that he had used the whip very lightly in the straight but was ensuring that his mount would not pull up if left alone. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that I.J. Power was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended I.J. Power for three racedays.
The Stewards requested a report from John Queally, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Don't Tell Allen, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Tipperary on the 19th May when pulled up. John Queally reported that his charge ran too keen when fitted with first time cheekpieces at Tipperary and disappointed. Today with the cheekpieces left off, his charge settled well when ridden off the pace in a race that was run at a very fast gallop. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
