Doctor goes one place better 24 hours on The Mouse Doctor followed in the footsteps of earlier winner Secret Memories, as he took the last at Leopardstown this evening, the Ryan Cleaning Event Specialists Handicap. Both were second at Fairyhouse yesterday evening, and turned out again quickly, they both managed to go one place better. Available at 12/1 in a place this morning, the Tony Martin trained victor opened on-course at 8s before going off a 5/1 chance under Robbie Colgan for the Here For The Craic Partnership. Prominent early, the son of Lord Shanakill was soon settled behind the leaders, and was fourth from three furlongs out. He was ridden to challenge on the outer from the two furlong pole, and led with a furlong left to race, keeping on well from there to hold off the late effort of Remembered Joy by half a length. The runner-up was returned at 20/1 under Chris Hayes for Eddie Harty, while Bit Of Banter (7s to 11/2) was a short head back in third. For Pleasure was sent off the 11/4 favourite, and he was a disappointing last. Martin said afterwards: "He came out of the race in great form so I thought why not let him take his chance. He loves that ground." Additional reporting by Gary Carson
