Richelieu may be ten now but he showed his younger rivals how it was done when racing to a comprehensive three length success in division two of the Group Discounts At Dundalk Handicap.
Chris Hayes got a great response from his mount down the middle of the track, leading from under a furlong out before going on to beat Rigid Rock
Lee Smyth trains the course and distance winner from seven weeks ago and he said: "He runs best fresh and it's a case of not being too greedy with him.
"Hopefully he'll come back here in three or four weeks and I still think there's another one in him.
"We'll keep him to six furlongs, that's ideal for him and it doesn't make sense to go any further."
Previously a four time winner for Jimmy Lambe, Richelieu also beat Rigid Rock when winning here over course and distance 49 days ago and the third from that occasion, Desert Al also filled the bronze medal position here. Déjà Vu – it could only happen on a Friday 13th! (AM & EM)
