In the Restaurant Package At Tipperary Races Maiden Hurdle Devil's Glen 25/1 (from 50s) romped home under a typically confident Denis O'Regan.
The Jeremy gelding was leaving a completely tailed off bumper debut effort from 53 days back a long way in the past as he defeated favourite Gold Seal by four and a half lengths.
Held up, the Barry Connell-owned and Alan Fleming-trained youngster cantered into contention in the straight, and a lovely clean leap at the last sealed the issue in the four-year-old two miler.
Second market choice Erratic Path lost his chance with a bad mistake at the second last.
"The ground was bottomless at Fairyhouse and he got revved up and keen beforehand," explained Connell.
"He has always jumped well and always worked well enough at home to win a maiden hurdle. He settled away lovely today and the way he jumps on that ground, we might keep him on the go for some of those better races during the summer.
"He's entitled to take his chance in a better class novice now and we could give him a little break now before possibly going to Galway."
The Directors of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board using their powers under Rule 22(i) modified the time limit for the lodging of passports to 40 minutes prior to the advertised start time for the first race for runners in this race.
M.A. Enright, rider of Erratic Path trained by Andrew Lynch, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a respiratory noise during this race.
J.W. Kennedy, rider of Perfect Soldier trained by M.D. O'Callaghan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was never travelling before being pulled up.
