Designer Cailin (13/2) gained a deserved first win at Dundalk today as the Pat Martin trained filly landed the BetVictor Proud To Support Racing Handicap (div II) under jockey Mikey Sheehy.
A first-season foal from stallion Strath Burn, Designer Cailin had been placed five times in 15 previous outings and today scored a short-head win over Burning Lake
Trainer Martin later reported “she’s gone close a few times before and the horses that have beaten her have gone on to do good things.
“She just wants to run as hard as she can but she’s very honest - she just doesn’t know how to switch off.
“She’s versatile from six furlongs to a mile but I think seven is ideal for her. Mikey excelled on her and I’m just delighted to get her to win. She’ll be back here again.”
