Adelisa got a deserved win to her name, as she completed a double for Joseph O'Brien in the Racing Again October 21st Maiden.

Second on three of her previous seven starts, the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor was available at 2/1 in early shows, but eventually went off the 5/4 favourite in the colours of the Annus Mirabilis Syndicate.

Soon settled in second by Mikey Sheehy, the bay victor got to the front over two furlongs from home and was ridden out inside the final furlong, with a length-and-a-half the winning margin. Notre Belle Bete (13/8), who on a mark of 92 is rated thirteen pounds higher than the winner, had to settle for second under Chris Hayes for Darren Bunyan, while Indian Sioux (10s early, returned 11/2) was another length-and-three-parts back in third.

Brendan Powell, assistant trainer to O'Brien, said: "It was a nice tough performance. She's not the biggest but she's all heart and copes with most surfaces.

"Mikey said she'll end up staying further but he wouldn't worry about it at the moment.

"He got her away from the stalls and into a nice position. The other horse came to her but she battled and went away at the end.

"It's nice to get her head in front. It's great for Annus Mirabilis who are great supporters of the yard and have been for years."

Joseph O'Brien had earlier took the opening contest with Voice Of Angels
