Mullinavat continued the good recent run of trainer Henry De Bromhead at Tramore today, justifying 11/10 favouritism for a wide-margin win in the Pat Woodbyrne Memorial Rated Novice Chase under jockey Sean Flanagan.
The winning son of Beneficial made all and had the race in the bag with three fences to jump, as Flanagan then kept the boat afloat as the pair scored a 21 lengths win over Penny Jane Mullinavat’s win was De Bromhead’s first since his three winner haul at the Galway festival, which also included the Galway Plate with Balko Des Flos.
The trainer later stated “I’m delighted with that and it looked like an ideal race for him and he did it well. I'm not sure what he beat but he did it well anyway.
“Anything from yielding to good ground suits him and we are only really getting to know him. He has done really well for us and has won two now and was probably unlucky to be beaten by Archive in Wexford so it could have been three.
“He is a grand horse and loves jumping fences and is a real chaser. I entered him for Killarney next week but I'd be surprised if we go there with him and I'd say he will probably go to Listowel. There is a nice 0-140 two mile handicap there and I'm sure the handicapper won't put him up too much for today, he might get in off a nice light weight there.
“I’m delighted his owner Mike Allen is here today, as he missed it the last time he won."
