Daymoona delivers for Prendergast & Hayes The Kevin Prendergast trained Daymoona just saw off the late challenge of Senyuman to take the feature race at Roscommon this evening, the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Handicap. After winning her maiden at Ballinrobe in June, the daughter of Pivotal finished fifth of six to Majestic Jasmine at Fairyhouse on her last start. Ridden by Chris Hayes, she was sent off at 10/1 this evening, and was settled behind the leaders for much of the contest. She came with her challenge a furlong and a half from home, soon hitting the front, and keeping on well under pressure close home to fend off all challengers. The Mick Halford trained Senyuman, who was sent off the outsider of the field at 20/1, ran a cracker to take second, finishing just a neck behind the winner under Conor Hoban. Maggie Dalton took third, a half a length back under Kevin Manning for Jim Bolger at 7/2 (opened at 9/2 on-course), while the 11/4 favourite, Tuscan Light, could only manage fifth under Pat Smullen for Dermot Weld. Kevin Prendergast said afterwards: "She ran at Fairyhouse the last day on very fast ground and she was better on that today. "The dam won a Group 3, and while she is not as good as her, she is improving." Additional reporting by Alan Magee
