Sea The Dawn landed a gamble for Classic winning trainer Adrian Keatley, as she ran out an easy winner of the Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Maiden.

Having failed to make an impact on her debut at the Curragh last month, the daughter of Sea The Moon was available at 50/1 in early shows.

She opened on-course at 25s, but then came in plenty of market support, eventually going off a 10/1 chance under Killian Leonard.

Settled in mid-division, the chestnut victor was pushed along from early in the straight. She was soon switched to the outer and ridden, sweeping to the front at the furlong pole, stretching clear in the closing stages, coming home six lengths to the good. Glow Worm who was returned the 4/1 favourite (from 11/2 on-course), had no answer once headed by the winner, and she had to settle for second under Leigh Roche for Jack Davidson. Formyboys (7/1) completed the places, another three parts of a length back in third.

Leonard said afterwards: "She fell out of the gates the first day but flew home and was only beaten eight lengths. I think she wants that ground, she ran on good to firm ground at the Curragh and it looked like a nice run.

"I was worried coming here would the ground be too slow but to be honest I think she wants that ground, being by Sea The Moon. She had a low weight on her back and I think there is plenty improvement left."

The winner was bought by owner Joseph Kelly for just E3,000 as a yearling, and she is a half-sister to Newmarket Warrior (four time winner) and Le Panche (three time winner).
