Owner Sabina Power had an appropriate winner today as Collective Power (7/2) registered an eighth success in Dundalk’s opening William Hill Price Guarantee Handicap, on a day when the inaugural David Power Jockeys Cup concluded.

Ridden by jockey Sorcha Woods, Collective Power improved from rear to edge past Clonmacash close home, for a half-length win.

Owner Power’s late husband David Power’s name is attached to this season’s £1.5 million UK jump jockeys’ challenge - sponsored by Flutter, with winner Harry Skelton to receive £500,000 first-prize at Aintree tomorrow.

At Dundalk, Collective Power’s trainer and breeder Eddie Lynam mentioned “those colours are always good to win with.”

"It has been a while since Collective Power won. He previously won this race off 67 (two years ago) and he's 82 today. The horse runs for her (Woods) and she gets on very well with him.

"He did it well and he was entitled to have his chance. He'll go turf as he's very versatile.

He added “Ado McGuinness was second (with Clonmacash) and he congratulated me, but said it's a pity I didn't win the previous day as it cost him the Winter Series title!”
