Dancing Meadows shows plenty in Ballinrobe Dancing Meadows may have had a ‘P’ beside her name that put off some punters, but those who knew of her potential must have been delighted to see her win the first of the bumpers on Ballinrobe’s card. The ‘P’ was as a result of being pulled up on her only outing at Durrow in March on the point-to-point circuit. Significantly though, she was the 6/4 favourite that day. She was 6/1 this evening and swept throught under Nina Carberry just inside the furlong pole to win going away by two and a quarter lengths. Run Fly Run, the uneasy 11/4 favourite from an opening show of 2/1, kept on for second while Rathmuck Native was a head away in third at 25/1. Gordon Elliott said: “This isn’t a bad filly. I thought she was a certainty in her point-to-point. She went off 6/4 but bled. She was only about 70 per cent fir coming here today and I didn’t think she was fit enough. She’ll come on a lot for it and I think there’s a fair bit of improvement in her.” Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes
