Megan Carberry secured her third career winner in a driving finish on Daisy Mountain to pip Ross Coakley and Jappeli in the apprentices’ handicap at Tipperary.

The two jockeys fought out a last furlong battle in the extended seven furlong race, but Daisy Mountain prevailed by a short head at 12/1 for trainer James Nash. Jappeli was sent off 16/1.

Admirable veteran Fit The Cove ran a good race in third under top weight at 13/2 with Colin Keane in the saddle. This was the 12-year-old’s third race in five days and in that period he has clocked up a win and two thirds for Harry Rogers.

James Nash said: “She has been very consistent and it’s great for her owner Paul Daly who has stuck with her. He is from Dungourney, Co Cork.

“She’ll go to Gowran next Wednesday for an apprentices’ handicap. Megan gave her a great ride.”
