Niall ‘Boots’ Madden was continuing his good run when his charge Dafarabad came home in front of the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap in the hands of Conor O’Farrell.
O’Farrell raced the son of Cape Cross in mid-division and produced his mount with a challenge from over one furlong out and the pair were soon in front and kept on gamely for a three parts of a length win.
“He’s been running well all year but he has just been unlucky and it’s great he won”, said a delighted Madden.
“We might try pick up another handicap for him and maybe go back hurdling then.”
Winning jockey Conor O’Farrell is also having a good time of it as he partnered his father’s horse A Little Different to land the Racing Post Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at Perth yesterday.
