D'Oudairies sets the tone for the day Toner D'Oudairies, so impressive at Down Royal last time, justified the confidence of his many backers for the opening Grade 3 Bar One Racing Juvenile 3-y-o Hurdle at Fairyhouse, scoring convincingly under Davy Russell. The former French winner in the provinces, found an impressive chance of gear before the second last after being squeezed along briefly to raise his effort turning in. The result was soon beyond doubt then as Gigginstown House Stud's Polish Summer gelding stayed on well to see off the promising hurdling debutant Kalann by two and a half lengths. Winning trainer Gordon Elliott said: "He's a big slow horse who'll be a grand chaser in time. He jumps like a horse who'll jump a fence. As long as he keeps doing what he's doing he'll be grand. He'll go to Leoparstown at Christmas next (for the Grade 2 Bord na Mona Fire Magic Juvenile Hurdle on St Stephen's Day). "I don't know if he's a Cheltenham horse yet. The ground there could be on the quick side for him." Ladbrokes go 20/1 Toner D'Oudairies for the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham.
