Kid Curry repelled the late challenge of the gambled on Worldor to land the opening Daily Mirror Maiden Hurdle at Down Royal.
John Cullen's mount made most of the running and proved too strong for his rivals down the straight.
Noel Meade 's charge pulled clear before the final flight and Worldor couldn't peg him back, going under by two-and-a-half lengths.
The runner-up had been backed from 7/1 in morning into 6/4 favourite on course but got going all too late.
"He's been a bit disappointing but came back well today," said Ben Meade, representing his brother Noel.
"He's likely to go novice hurdling. John Cullen have him a nice ride and he obviously liked being in front."
