The 4/6 favourite Aloneamongmillions won the BoyleSports Tetratema Cup Hunters Chase for the second time in three years as he got the better of last year's winner Solomn Grundy by a length and a half.

The Mahler gelding, successful iunder Derek O'Connor in the 2020 renewal and yet to be beaten in six point-to-point starts, was always prominent and went on early in the home straight. The final fence was omitted due to ground conditions and Solomn Grundy tried to make a race of it as they went around the bypassed obstacle but was never quite getting on terms with the Pa King-ridden winner in the final furlong.

Winning trainer Sam Curling said: “It was tough conditions and a bit of a muddling race but he got the job done.

“He’s a very good horse but has had plenty of problems and hopefully he’ll be in one piece after that.

“He won this race two years ago but got hurt in Naas over 12 months ago and has been given plenty of time. He won well in a point-to-point (at Turtulla) a few weeks ago.

“He’ll probably go to Fairyhouse now for the Joseph O’Reilly.”
