Cruisin Susan defies a penalty to win second race within a week Successful at Wexford on Friday evening, the John Berry trained Cruisin Susan followed up under a penalty when staying on late to land the Walsh Butler Ltd Electrical Services Handicap Hurdle at Tramore. Owned by the trainers wife Anna and ridden by son John, the seven-year-old was recording the third win of her career to date. Like an earlier winner on the card Rauzan, the mare was dropping back in trip for this race but made her stamina count on the run from two out as she got to leader Beechroad Winnie after the last before keeping on for a one-and-a-quarter-length win. Sent off 4/1f, the Walk In The Park mare had been rated in the mid 90's at one time so could well have more to offer now that she is on a winning run. Winning trainer John Berry said: "There wasn't a bother on her after Wexford, you would even know she'd ran. She loves passing horses and has to be rode on the outside as she doesn't like horses in around her. "She is funny and at Wexford she had a look going to the last. She's quirky but she has won three races now. I might run her in a little mares chase somewhere. When the ground goes soft she is no good on it." Additional reporting by Donal Murphy.
