Gold Cup hero Gavin Cromwell kept the ball rolling with a Down Royal winner today, as his Cheltenham-bred Glenashling (14/1) was awarded the opening Bluegrasshorsefeed.com Maiden Hurdle in the stewards’ room.

Walk on The Beach (4/7f) passed the winning post a half-length in front of Glenashling but the pair had bumped at the second-last and, more significantly, again met on the run-in. That latter leftward-drift by Walk on The Beach resulted in Glenashling being carried to the stands’ side rail, with the stewards later reversing their placings.

The Bridget McAuliffe-owned Glenashling, a half-brother to Champion Chase winner Special Tiara, was trainer Cromwell’s first national hunt runner since Inothewayurthinkin’ Friday’s famous defeat of Galopin Des Champs.

Tomorrow sees the official 4.30pm homecoming of Inothewayurthinkin, and his connections, at Skryne GAA Club.
