Cromwell has promoted winner at Down Royal Gold Cup hero Gavin Cromwell kept the ball rolling with a Down Royal winner today, as his Cheltenham-bred Glenashling (14/1) was awarded the opening Bluegrasshorsefeed.com Maiden Hurdle in the stewards’ room. Walk on The Beach (4/7f) passed the winning post a half-length in front of Glenashling but the pair had bumped at the second-last and, more significantly, again met on the run-in. That latter leftward-drift by Walk on The Beach resulted in Glenashling being carried to the stands’ side rail, with the stewards later reversing their placings. The Bridget McAuliffe-owned Glenashling, a half-brother to Champion Chase winner Special Tiara, was trainer Cromwell’s first national hunt runner since Inothewayurthinkin’ Friday’s famous defeat of Galopin Des Champs.
