Gavin Cromwell completed a Cork newcomers' double today with a pair of well fancied Walk In The Park-sired four year olds, as filly La Malmason (5/1) landed the Paddy Power 'Dear Lord I've Left The Immersion On' Maiden Hurdle.
Ridden by Keith Donoghue, La Malmason (morning 9/1, returned 5/1) led before the second-last and eventually held experienced rivals, beating Knockanard Lady by three parts of a lengths.
Cromwell's four year old Inothewayurthinkin landed a gamble in today's opener and Donoghue, reflecting yard confidence, said “we were expecting that to be honest, as she is a well bred filly and her work had been good.
“We'd have been disappointed if she wasn't in the first three but behind it all we thought she would win.”
He added “she gave me a lovely feel, jumped well and travelled into the race lovely. I thought Paul (Townend, on Walk In The Brise might come with me up the home straight but he stopped at the third last and it left my one to idle.
“The winning line came in time as I probably got left in front too soon — I'd have been kicking myself if I got caught. It was her first run and she was just looking around. She is a strong traveller on that ground and is nice.”
