English contender Markab from the Henry Candy stable made his journey worthwhile when landing the Wetherbys Ireland Greenlands Group 3 Stakes in the hands of the capable Pat Cosgrave.
Cosgrave made all on the 100/30 favourite, the pair were clear from two furlongs out and kept on well to score by a convincing two lengths.
Cosgrave who was the 2003 champion apprentice in Ireland has been based in England now for the last six years.
The winning jockey commented: “He’s a different horse this year, I thought he’d improve five or six lengths from his last run and I think he has.”
“He’s quite a big horse and he’s very straight forward and genuine. He tries hard for you and he picked up well today.”
