Champagne Classic has connections looking forward to a chasing career next season after taking the Holycross Maiden Hurdle in impression style.
The Gigginstown-owned son of Stowaway already had victories in a Kilworth point-to-point and a Fairyhouse bumper to his credit, and was sent off the 11/10 favourite here having been placed on all three previous hurdle outings.
Jack Kennedy ’s mount travelled well to head the front-running Freeway Space after two out, and quickly settled the issue when asked for an effort approaching the final flight.
He came home eight and a half lengths clear, with Call The Taxie another five lengths back in third.
Winning trainer Gordon Elliott said, "It wasn't the strongest race in the world, and Jack said he was happy with him the whole way.
"We'll keep it small with him. He's a horse to jump a fence next season, and we'll aim for a winners' of one race next. He's a grand horse who will win his races."
