Cork treble, six on the day for Mullins as Doctor Du Mesnil lands finale Champion trainer Willie Mullins sent out his sixth winner of the afternoon as the Jody Townened ridden Doctor Du Mesnil made at impressive winning debut in the concluding Finbarr Quaid Electrical (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race at Cork. An unraced son of Doctor Dino, from the family of Lord Du Mesnil, the debutant created a very favourable impression to justify 11/8f with the minimum of fuss. Held up off the early pace as Peekachoo took them along, Townend moved into contention in the centre of the track early in the straight. Leading over two-furlongs out, the response was immediate once the Cork born rider pushed the button. Quickening right away from toiling rivals, the gelding had 11 lengths to spare at the line. Jody Townend said: “He’s going to be a good horse. He’s so relaxed, you can ride him anyway you want and he’s a different horse on grass compared to even at home. "He picked up in two strides and I knew I had them covered. If he can get off the ground at all over a jump, I’d say he will be a very good horse.” Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes.
