Cool Power brought up doubles for Eddie Lynam and Rory Cleary at Leopardstown when running out a decisive winner of the seven furlong fillies’ maiden.
She had been 20/1 this morning and was hammered down to 13/2 on the off having opened at 9s on course.
The three-year-old made all and kept up a relentless gallop to the line to come in three and three parts of a length ahead of Fulminata (5/1).
Eddie Lynam said: “That’s a big one to get as she’s Slade Power’s sister. Anything she does after this is a bonus. She’s a little bit eccentric.
“The lad Will Hayes has done a good job with her and he was down at the stalls. Rory has also done a first-class job. She has a job for life now [as a broodmare].
“We’ll stick her in a handicap and see what they give her and we’ll see how she gets on.” Acting Talent (9/10f) was unable to top off Dermot Weld’s evening with a win as she faded to third in the last furlong.
Lynam had scored earlier on the card with Vallado while Cleary had success on Tobann
