Winning Impact justified his trainer Jimmy Coogan’s faith in him when scoring a 14/1 success in the Follow Roscommon On Facebook Handicap at Roscommon today.
The son of Pyrus received a typically forceful ride from Declan McDonogh, eventually proving a neck too strong for the staying on Balladiene
Afterwards Coogan stated “I gave him a really good chance today. He ran well at The Curragh the last day in an apprentice race but didn’t get the run of the race. The girl who rode him put her hands up afterwards and I thought he’d win today - I was very sweet on him.
“Where he goes I don’t know but we’ll play it by ear – he loves that soft ground.”
