Consistent Cosmo strikes again Cosmo Renfro's stamina kicked in late on as he bagged another win at Limerick this evening. The Shane Nolan-trained gelding had scored over three miles at the track in November and had been placed five times in the interim. Cosmic Rock looked set to score when kicking a few lengths clear turning for home today was chased down by the Arctic Cosmos gelding after the last flight. Kieren Buckley's mount when on to post a three-parts-of-a-length over the staying on Beeverstown Place at odds of 9/2. Nolan said:- "You can't knock him as you won't find a tougher horse in training. He had finished second to Aodhan May twice so we were delighted when we saw that Charles (Byrnes, trainer) had nothing in it! "Neil (Cox, owner) was patient and gave him the time he needed last year and every day this season the horse has been good. His jumping wasn't brilliant in the past but cheekpieces have helped and he now makes ground at his hurdles. "I wouldn't like running him back so soon as today but the heavier the ground, the better for him. He'll school over fences before going out for the summer." Niall Moore picked up an eight day suspension for excessive whip use on the runner-up Beeverstown Place. (Quotes by Tom Weekes)
