Condon & McDonogh strike on the double

If Ken Condon thought things couldn't get any better following the success of Perino in the second, he was wrong as Third Intention brought up an 87/1 double for himself and Declan McDonogh in the Castleview Homes Maiden.

The successful son of Azamour led after about five furlongs and he kept galloping up the straight to beat one of the Ballydoyle representatives, Don Leone by four and a half lengths.

Condon said afterwards: "He is a very honest horse, a gentleman and a lovely horse to have about the place. He is a very strong stayer and his half sister won a couple of handicaps over two miles for Mark Tompkins.

"Declan knew he was on a strong stayer so that's why he was so forceful on him. He'll make a smashing jumper in time even though he is still quite raw. He enjoys nice ground."
