Thedevilscoachman proved too classy for his rivals in the QuinnBet Hurdle at Leopardstown this afternoon when running out an easy winner.
Noel Meade ’s charge was produced to claim front-runner Aspire Tower going to the last and soon asserted on the bridle.
Mark Walsh only had to shake up the JP McManus-owned gelding on the run-in as he went on to post a cosy nine length victory. Meet And Greet got up on the line to edge the runner-up spot.
It was a first success in almost two years for the Elusive Pimpernel gelding and Meade said afterwards:-
Racing manager Frank Berry said:- “It was nice to see him getting his head back in front. He’s a nice horse but has been a bit unlucky to bump into a few here and there.
“Mark said he travelled well and jumped great. It might not have been the strongest of races, but he got the job done.
“We’ll see what conditions races are there for him and he may go back over fences before the end of the season.”
