The opening race on the final Friday evening meeting of the year at Wexford, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF 2yo Fillies Maiden, went to the Dermot Weld trained, Pat Smullen ridden Cloudracer
Only five lined up for the mile contest which was only the second ever 2yo maiden to be run at Wexford, following on from its inaugural running last year, with the winner making all to score at the odds of 5/2.
Having opened at 15/8 this morning the daughter of Rail Link was a big drifter, with the favourite Criostal for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning well supported opening at 11/10 this morning before going off the 8/11 favourite.
However she was pushed along back in third from over two furlongs out with the winner driven to assert before going on to win eased down by seven lengths.
The 2yo winner in the colours of Lady O'Reilly was having just her second career start having made her debut at the Curragh recently finishing seventh behind Ballydoyle newcomer Was.
Dermot Weld was not present for the win but winning rider Pat Smullen said afterwards: "She learnt a lot from her first run at the Curragh. She knew her job today. Getting the rail was a help but I'd say it was a very moderate race."
