Navorrosse trained by Pat Fahy bounced back to form to spring a 25/1 surprise in the first division of the Rose Hotel Handicap.

A winner at Cork last summer but unplaced in eight outings this term, the five-year-old was held up by Rory Cleary and began to make headway two furlongs out. She stayed on strongly in the closing stages and nailed Super Cub on the line for a short head victory. Hot Bell finished back in third, a further three and a half lengths adrift.

Cleary said: "She has dropped 20lb since her last win, Pat (Fahy) had been disappointed with the way she had been running and said to take my time early on, go down the inside and ride her for luck.

"I got all the splits I needed and she galloped all the way to the line well. I hoped the line wouldn't come too soon and she just got there."
