Classic winner Wicklow Brave returned to winning ways at Killarney today as the Willie Mullins trained gelding landed the Rose Hotel QR Race under the Champion Trainer's son Patrick Mullins.
Wicklow Brave famously won the 2016 renewal of the Irish St Leger under Frankie Dettori and was today registering his 11th lifetime win, when beating Le Vagabond by two lengths.
Afterwards ten times Champion Amateur Jockey Mullins, stated “he broke quite slow and he is a bit like he always is and has a little look around but I couldn't pull him up afterwards and myself and Derek (O'Connor, on third-placed Ivanovich Gorbatov actually did another lap of the track and couldn't pull him up.
“That should get his confidence back and it looked like a good opportunity and he will probably have his sights raised after that. He could go to Galway or Goodwood but I don't think
He has been there twice and doesn't break quick enough; when you are breaking last of seven in an amateur riders' race at Killarney, you're probably not going to be quick enough in Melbourne!
“He has been a great servant for me and I'd love to get another shot on him and I've schooled him over fences and he jumps them brilliantly so has that option too.”
