Class proves tough in Clonmel opener Definite Class proved too strong in the closing stages as she got up on the run-in to deny the well-backed Rathlin in first division of the Fethard Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel. The Gigginstown runner had attracted strong support on track (7/4 into 11/10f) and looked set for victory after hitting the lead turning for home. Definite Class tried to throw down a challenge but was not helped by a mistake two out. Dessie Hughes' charge stuck to her guns well, however, and worked hard to peg back her rival on the run-in and record a gutsy length success under Bryan Cooper. "She was entitled to win because she has been consistent," said Hughes afterwards. "She'll go for a winners' race next and has done alright to win two races already."
