Sea Chariot stepped forward from his promising debut run to open his account at Dundalk this evening.

The John Murphy-trained gelding had been sixth behind Stormy Entry in a 'winners' race here last month and struck trying maiden company tonight.

Scott McCullagh tracked the leaders on the Gregorian gelding and produced him to challenge down the straight.

The 10/3 shot grabbed a narrow lead passing the furlong pole and kept on well in the closing stages to record a half-length victory over Artemis Jones

McCullagh said: "He's a very well-balanced, clear-winded horse. He obviously improved a lot from the first day.

"I thought he quickened up there and put the race to bed. He had a little look when he got there but the penny is still only dropping.

"He's a fine horse and moves very well and went through the race at ease and quickened up good.

"He might get a mile when he strengthens up.

"He's one to look forward to, he is a fine prospect going forward."
