Champs could make chasing debut at Gowran

Sir Des Champs could make his chasing debut on Saturday at Gowran as the Willie Mullins trained gelding is among 38 entries for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase.

The French bred son of Robin Des Champs won his only start in France at Auteuil in March of 2010 before being sold to his current connections.

Running in the colours of Gigginstown House Stud he won on his first start at Navan in January of this year before staying on strongly up the Cheltenham hill to land the Martin Pipe Conditional Riders Handicap Hurdle under Emmet Mullins at the Festival in March.

Willie Mullins also has four other interesting runners in the field, Bishopfurze, Call The Police, Celtic Folkfore and Day Of A Lifetime.

Interestingly Sir Des Champs is the only Willie Mullins trained horse to hold an entry in the Grade 1, Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse on Sunday December 4th.
