Colin Keane was crowned champion Flat jockey for the fifth successive year while trainer Aidan O’Brien, owner Sue Magnier and apprentice James Ryan were also confirmed champions in their respective categories as the season drew to a close at the Curragh this afternoon.

Keane, who was winning his sixth champion jockey title, finished the year on the 103-winner mark — eight ahead of Billy Lee.

Dylan Browne McMonagle signed off the season with a treble at the Curragh to finish third in the table.

Aidan O’Brien landed a record 27th trainer’s title with the victory of Los Angeles in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby just one of the highlights among his 131 domestic winners and over €6.5m in prizemoney.

The apprentice championship went right down to the final day with James Ryan’s tally of 33 winners leaving him two ahead of both Wayne Hassett and Adam Caffrey.

A double at Dundalk on Wednesday proved crucial in securing him the title.
