Cecil wins incident-packed contest The Gordon Elliott trained Cecil Corbett ran out a comfortable winner of an incident packed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase. Eight set out for this two mile six furlong contest, but just four managed to complete the course. Full Cry (9/2 this morning and from 7/2 to 11/4 on-course) crashed out at the first and badly hampered As De Ferbet, who then unseated. The even money favourite Daisy's Gift came to grief at the seventh, while Kilclispeen was beaten in third when he fell two out. Cecil Corbett (7's to 6's) was settled in fourth by Keith Donoghue, and he was hampered at the seventh by the fall of Daisy's Gift. The winning son of Bollin Eric soon improved into a close second, and he jumped to the front three out. His supporters didn't have a moment's worry from there, as he came home a comfortable four length victor. Phangio (20/1) finished second under Mikey Fogarty for Colin Bowe, while 100/1 chance Admiral Bob completed the placings a further forty-one lengths back in third under Ger Fox for Helen Markham. Gordon Elliott said afterwards: "It's good to get a winner for Liam (owner Liam Clancy) who has had horses with me for a while. "He's a grand big staying chaser and should win plenty of races." Keith Donoghue added: "He did it well. The couple of fallers probably helped but he done it easy and done what he had to do. He jumped brilliant. "He had a good run the last day and just got tired. That was his first run since August and he needed it. He improved brilliant from it and I really fancied him today." Additional reporting by Gary Carson
