Apprentice jockey Gary Carroll who is enjoying a good season added another winner to this tally when coming home in front of the Porterstown Handicap aboard 16/1 shot Articilitis from the Des McDonogh stable.
Winning trainer McDonogh said afterwards, “That was great, Gary gave her an excellent ride from a very bad draw. Once she got a bit of daylight she ran on very well. The saddle slipped with her in Wexford the last day. She’s in a 1m 1/2 race in Galway on Thursday and if she gets in we’ll go there.”
McDonogh also added, “The owners are long family friends of ours and I used to train horses for his father and it was great to give them another winner.”
