Paul Carberry who has been absent since Cheltenham as he was recovering from a punctured lung was back to winning ways when he won the feature race of the day The Powers Gold Cup (Grade 1) aboard the Noel Meade trained Aran Concerto
Winning trainer Meade said afterwards, "He's a hell of horse to do what he did on his second run back and after a long lay off but unfortunately he seems to have finished lame. It just goes to show the potential he has if we get a chance to train him. It was the plan to go to Punchestown but obviously we'll just have to wait and see now."
Noel Meade said later in the afternoon: "Aran Concerto is not as bad as I had first feared, he is stiff and we will see how he is again in the morning."
