War Envoy was off his feed and had to miss the Fishery Lane Race at Naas. Ballydoyle then pitched their newcomer, Dick Whittington in against Ger Lyons' Cappella Sansevero and the latter made it two from two under Colin Keane, coming out on top after an interesting heat.
Like at Dundalk, Cappella Sansevero travelled through this race like a good horse whilst Joseph O'Brien, switched on to Dick Whittington after War Envoy's defection, endeavoured to get cover on the Rip Van Winkle colt.
Dick Whittington didn't really get into the clear until it was too late and though he closed down Cappella Sansevero to a head at the line, Colin Keane looked happy from a little way out that he'd hold on.
Ger Lyons said: "We came here to be second but Aidan (O'Brien) had the courtesy to pull out his horse.
"These are funny little races. They went no gallop and we gave him a chance as we weren't sure about the ground.
"He was sold since his last run but there was a bit of messing. He passed the vet and everything, but the owner pulled out when he couldn't re-name him.
"We came here for a bit of work to see what direction we were heading in.
"The plan is Royal Ascot and we wanted to see if we'll go for the Marble Hill first.
"Everyone was knocking the form at Dundalk because he won so easy. He needed today – this was like his first day.
"We'll look at the Marble Hill now and I'd say he'll drop back a furlong at Royal Ascot (the Norfolk Stakes).
"Colin said he just got away with the ground today – it rode very dead on him.
"There's no point running into those War Front horses in the Coventry. I'd rather win at Royal Ascot than be second or third." (GC & EM)
