Cape Of Approval goes in search of a hat-trick with victory in the Listed Abergwaun Stakes at Tipperary this evening.
Three-times winner as a three-year-old last season, the Tommy Stack-trained son of Cape Cross has taken his game to another level in recent months, securing back-to-back victories at Cork, most recently beating the high-class Maarek in the Listed Midsummer Sprint.
He has to give weight to 11 opponents on Friday evening, but Fozzy Stack, assistant to his father, is confident he will be up to the task.
Stack said: "He's in good order, we've been happy with him since his last run and hopefully he'll run a big race.
"They are giving a bit of rain, so let's see what happens.
"There is no plan for him, that will be down to the weather. He'll go wherever the ground is soft."
The Stack team are represented in the same five-furlong contest by Scream Blue Murder who is fitted with headgear for the first time.
"We're going to put the blinkers on her to try and sharpen her up a bit. She worked well in them the other day. Hopefully she'll run OK," said Stack.
David Marnane saddles the consistent Red Dubawi who was not disgraced when fourth behind multiple Group One-winning mare Sea Siren in the Listed Belgrave Stakes at Fairyhouse.
Marnane said: "We're looking for a bit of ease in the ground for him, really.
"He ran nicely the last day and has shown up well every time this year, but he is a horse who is much better on very soft ground.
"We'll keep tipping away with him as he's a big, stuffy horse who needs runs."
