Bythesametoken got off the mark on second chase start today at Down Royal as the Ross O'Sullivan trained, Conor Orr-partnered gelding won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Rated Novice Chase.
Successful three times previously over hurdles, the son of Fame And Glory was runner-up on fences debut 10 days ago at Fairyhouse and today went past leader Delvino before the final fence and scored by a length and a quarter. Ujumpthelastuwin was disputing second and beaten, when falling at the last.
Afterwards O'Sullivan said "he (Conor Orr) said he learned a lot from the last day in Fairyhouse. I was very happy with him at home even though it was a quick turnaround. He was fresh so we said we had to give it a go.
"It is hard to find those rated novice chases and you are nearly pushed into it so we had to give it a go. It is very hard to go into those normal beginners' chases taking on those 140-rated horses.
"Conor said he was very quick over his fences. He is a horse that is always ridden patiently and he should improve. There are a couple of those rated novice chases coming up that will suit him into March.
"I'm delighted, that is four he is after winning and he has a good attitude. He was late to go chasing but he had been very consistent over hurdles so we were slow about going chasing."
